My journey as an artist began when I began. I've always seen the world through artist's eyes. Picking up forgotten objects and making them into new things, or painting what inspires me in nature, have always been my way of expressing my love of this world we live in.
I love being immersed in wild places so painting "en plein air" or collecting information with my camera enables me to capture the essence and excitement for new paintings.
I strive to tell stories with my work. I find discarded items and use them in to build reliquaries or shadow boxes that cradle my paintings. This brings depth and draws out memories for the viewer of the work.
In my current body of work, I am incorporating musical "tonal" wood reclaimed from musical instruments to make the boxes that hold paintings of trees.
By telling the story of the music that the wood has held during it's lifetime, I am using the trees to reflect that purpose of praise that we all contain.

"I want my work to give the viewer a sense of peace, and maybe a hint of the unexpected. In this hectic world we live in, I strive to give my audience a moment to pause."
